The Pinto Teixeira Family

Elvis and Patricia brought their family to the USA when Elvis was stationed here as part of the Netherlands Air Force. They will be here for a period of three years. (Welcome to the United States Tjin family!) They say it didn’t take long for the family to get adjusted to their new environment in Edmond. The kids are really liking school and having their new friends. Their daughter Sylvana (age 9) is playing basketball and taking piano lessons. Their son Calvin (who just turned 4) plays soccer which is more popular back in their home in Europe. Besides their daily lives of work, school, and sports, the family loves to travel. They have already visited 20 states and have plans of visiting more during their time of living here.

Patricia said that “The overall experience of getting used to a different culture, meeting different people, seeing and learning a lot about a different country then where you originally come from is amazing. This experience has become a part of our lives and it is something that we will always cherish and remember for the rest of our lives.” They chose Taylor Made to create visual memory of this “beautiful period in our lives” with custom portraits.

Elvis is best friends of Patricia’s cousin and they have known each other a very long time. This upcoming August will mark 15 years that Patricia and Elvis have been together. They are legally married on paper but have never had what Patricia called a “real wedding”. Because of this, they have decided to go back to the Netherlands and take their vows on their anniversary in the presence of family and friends. This will be an exciting wedding that will be held in a castle! Best of luck to everybody in the family and high hopes that they continue to enjoy their time in the United States.

Here Comes May’s Flowers

Feeling kind of tired? Does this time of year keep you going and you feel like you just need to catch your breath, but can’t? It is common for us all to get super busy and then get so caught up in what we are doing that we forget to pause and take a break every now and then. Leave the flower bed for awhile, take a break from spring cleaning, keep the kids home for an evening, and make it a point to stop and smell the roses. Take in all you have in life and enjoy it for what it is…it’s too short to miss out on the good parts.

Now that tax season is over and school is getting out, the plans are being made…plans for a full and a fun summer. While you make all your plans, don’t forget that not too far from now is Father’s Day (June 17th this year). Keep dad in mind with the special gift of portraits. Do you need to reorder from an old session, come in for a new session (with or without dad – depending on if you want to surprise him or not!), or get a gift certificate to use in the future?

All images capture something in one way or another.  Only a select few photographers do such a great job when you see the picture, you remember the people in the picture, how you felt, things they said to you and how they are part of your life.  That’s why we do what we do and work so hard at Taylor Made Photography.

We look forward to sitting down with you to understand your needs and to show you how we will exceed them.  Please call us to schedule your appointment at 405-341-5088.

Julie Dawkins

Julie is one of our Senior 2012 Models from Edmond North High School. She has the title of Student of the Month and Shakespeare Club Dutchess, as well as being a part of the German Club Committee. She plans to attend UCO next year and while she hasn’t declared a major, she plans on looking into pursuing either photography (go Julie!) or psychology to become a counselor. She has already had success with some of her photography having two photos make the top 50 in the Youth Visions of Edmond contest (congrats Julie!). This summer Julie will be going to Germany with the German American Partnership Program exchange program. We all wish her the best of luck with her time in Germany, college career, and life in general as she pursues her dreams!

Smiles Are Contagious

Here is a personal story from a girl who was blessed with the opportunity to have her cleft lip and palate fixed. You have the opportunity to give more children the same privilege to have a smile they are proud of.

“Im pretty sure I could fill out a chapter book of my feelings:

It is more than just a scar below my nose and above my lip, it is a cleft lip, or as I see it: a beauty mark. At the age of 16 I have already undergone 3 surgeries to repair my cleft lip and palate. It is hardly even noticeable; in fact I rarely ever see it when I look in the mirror. I am very fortunate to have been born with a mild cleft lip, that could be repaired through surgeries. Many babies aren’t as fortunate as I was. Cleft lips are more common than we Americans may realize; but that is due to the fact that our technology is so much more advanced. Other countries aren’t as fortunate as America. Operation Smile is an organization that provides cleft lip and palate surgeries for those unfortunate kids. Thanks to Operation Smile many lips and palates have been fixed, and lives have been saved.
I often become teary-eyed when I see pictures of those with cleft lips. It breaks my heart to see someone who was born with the same birth defect I was; but yet I never had to suffer like they do. I know that I truly have so much to be thankful for. Never have I not been able to eat because of my lip. Never have I been an outcast because my lip is a little different than everyone else’s. I believe that a smile can light up a whole room and everyone deserves to have that beautiful smile. Operation Smile can provide that smile. That same smile that I was fortunate enough to receive.”

Rebecca

Rebecca plans to pursue a degree in business at OSU and has signed with the Oklahoma State University Equestrian Team for the fall of 2012. Rebecca’s family owns and operates Cadence Equestrian Center in Edmond where she plays an essential part in the development of horses from a young age. For some time she has been known as a high level equitation rider with a versatile talent. She has earned numerous championships and awards in the equitation, hunters and jumpers. This past year Rebecca  qualified for major Big Equitation finals including United States Equestrian Federation Pessoa Medal Finals, the United States Equestrian Federation Talent Search Finals and Washington International Horse Show Finals.  She has also been accepted into and completed the United States Hunter Jumper Association’s Emerging Athletes Program, Levels I and II. Rebecca is currently a United States Equestrian Federation High School Equestrian Varsity athlete and continues to compete on a national level in the hunters, jumpers and equitation divisions. She is a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, United States Hunter Jumper Association, Greater Oklahoma Hunter Jumper Association, Hunter Jumper Exhibitors of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Hunter Jumper Association, and American Quarter Horse Association. Rebecca has trained with some of this country’s greatest hunter/jumper trainers, including George Morris, the hunter jumper industry’s preeminent trainer, and Olympic Gold Medalist, Melanie Smith Taylor.

Last year Rebecca saw a need to bring together students who share a passion for horses, and started the Edmond North High School Equestrian Club to help promote the sport to others. She is currently President of the Club. We would like to congratulate Rebecca on all her hard work and accomplishments and wish her the best of luck as she continues to pursue what she loves.

Motherly Advice

This time of year  always brings cheery thoughts along with the sunshine and warm weather. Whether this weather makes you want to get out to the park and read or if it gets you in the mood to do your annual spring cleaning, make sure to enjoy this time of year. Even though there is a lot to enjoy, don’t forget that there are certain things that we don’t want to forget.

Mother’s Day has a tendency to sneak up on us every year. Take initiative to make sure that this year is special for your precious mother and/or loving wife. Come in to the studio and have portraits made of yourself, the munchkins, her favorite pet, or any combination – all in time to get them delivered before the big day. Mother’s Day is  May 13th so don’t wait too long before calling to schedule your appointment. If you want her to be in the portrait as well or if you simply don’t have the time to make an appointment before Mother’s Day, no need to worry…that’s when a gift certificate makes the perfect gift. Take some motherly advice and take this opportunity to show how much you care and give her something she will cherish forever.

Farrar Family

Chase and Jennifer are high school sweethearts who first met in the small town of Dover, OK.  Chase attended Kingfisher his entire school career but that didn’t stop them from spending as much time together as possible, taking full advantage of every summer and some after school evenings. They first started dating (but apparently didn’t do much talking) when Jennifer was in 5th grade and Chase was in 6th.  Jennifer will never forget the time Chase gave her a football button and asked her mom if she could go watch him play. They dated other people and then got back together at the end of Chase’s senior football season (Jennifer was a junior). They stayed together for a couple of years while he went to Northwestern and played football during Jennifer’s senior year of high school. They broke up yet again at the end of that school year and dated other people while going to college (Jennifer was now playing basketball at the University Of Central Oklahoma). They stayed apart her first four years of college.  During her 5th year while she was finishing up at UCO, Chase was back in Kingfisher working at a bank and they once again got together as a couple.  It was during this time that they decided to stay together permanently.

They married in October of 2008 and  had their first baby boy in July of 2010 . They are expecting their second son this upcoming July. In their wedding program they used the quote, “It’s not how much you have, it’s not where you’ve been in life, it’s who you have beside you”.  As interesting as their story has been, all of us here at the studio hope that they continue to make memorable stories as they raise their family.

“Hoppy” Easter

Easter Special

Easter is nearing and we are all looking forward to chocolate bunnies, marshmallow peeps, colored eggs, and laughing children. With the return of the festive holiday also returns the longstanding debate on the validity of our fluffy friend who hides delectables for all to find. It should be an easy debate really…if there wasn’t an Easter Bunny, who could pose for all those chocolate bunnies to be made every year? Taylor Made will have direct descendants of the Easter Bunny live and in the studio for a limited time only. So if you ever needed another reason to stop by the studio or looking to attain another tidbit of proof of the existence of the Easter Bunny, this is the time to do just that! On April 5th and 6th, you can have a custom portrait session with the special, uniquely designed Easter garden background and LIVE BUNNIES. This session gives you both traditional spring portraits and special Easter portraits with the bunnies. Or, on April 7th, you can have an appointment for a shorter session on the same custom background with LIVE BUNNIES. Whichever session you choose, take advantage of this opportunity to capture the precious moments and hand-picked Easter outfits. Call today to make your appointment before all appointments are taken.

Gunner

Gunner

Whenever Gunner wakes up he always has a smile on his face and is ready to give mommy a great big hug when she gets him out of the crib. His favorite toy is his dog named Scout and he loves to play peek-a-boo with his blanket. He is really enjoying eating solid foods and has found that he likes fruits and most veggies. He isn’t a fan of the green ones though, and always makes funny faces when he eats them – especially green beans and peas! His favorite activity seems to be taking a bath and his favorite part is splashing the water in the tub. Although he still doesn’t like “tummytime”, he is now sitting up on his own. He has recently discovered his feet and now they end up in his mouth to chew on just like anything else he can get his hands on. He likes to make others laugh and smile as well and will stuck his tongue out at you and make kissing noises with his lips.

Top O’ The March To You!

It’s a beautiful time of year when everything around us starts to come to life. The dawn of March brings us many things that we look forward to and enjoy every year. Whether it is the blooming of flowers and growing of plants all around, the annual trip for spring break, wishing everybody the ‘luck of the Irish’ on Saint Patrick’s, purging everything during spring cleaning, receiving the extra hour of daylight with the time change, or the heated competition that comes along with March Madness – there is something for everybody in March. We all look forward to different things or even the same things but maybe for different reasons.

At Taylor Made there are things to look forward to as well. It’s a great time for senior portraits so call for the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the Senior Winter Special but make sure you do so before March is over! Our Spring Family Special begins on the first day of spring (March 20th) so mark your calendars and schedule your sessions before June 1st! Also, the set is being conceptualized for the Easter Special coming up in April where there will be live bunnies causing the anticipation of this great event to begin to build.

Spring is a time to go back outside, enjoy the warmer weather and all the activities that come with it. It’s a time to gather around and cheer for your favorite team while stoking friendly rivalries with your friends about their chosen favorites. Time to relish the scent in the air provided by the blossoms sprouting and filling the landscapes. The perfect time to pile all the friends into the car and take another trip to build memories once again. There are many ways to enjoy the month of March and avoid a time of meaninglessness, so go out there and enjoy it to the fullest of your capability!

It’s All Skill

"not just ANY skill" by Aaron Johnson

Remember that the professional is what makes the difference. The camera, software, or other equipment isn’t what makes an image great…these are just tools that are used. A trained professional knowing how to best use their tools – that is where the difference is found.

Carson And Alex

Carson likes to stay active by spending all his extra time playing competitive soccer and football. But stopping with athletics isn’t enough for Carson so he pursues to achieve excellence in academics as well. He will be representing his school by competing in the state geography bee. Good luck to Carson from everybody at Taylor Made as he pursues all his goals!

Alex has a palate for the fine arts. She loves to go to musicals and thoroughly enjoys her dancing class. It isn’t all princesses and petticoats for Alex though. She also is active in both rock climbing and playing soccer. We all hope that she continues to pursue what she loves!

Puppy Love

Man's Best Friend

Kaelix is an AKC registered European bloodline Rottweiler. At 10 weeks old he is nothing less than a furry ball of love. His full registered name is Branimir vom Hause Hudson. His best friend tells us that he loves trying to play with his friends (4 cats), learning new tricks, and “working on obedience”. When he came into the studio he proved he was a true showman and showed off all his tricks and had everybody at the studio oohing and awing as his audience gathered around.

Love Is In The Air

How do you recognize true love? Is it the way that one special person looks at you? Are the butterflies in your stomach the deciding factor? Maybe it is the quick glance across the room when you realize it is love at first sight? Is it similar to the way Hollywood portrays it? Or is it the panting of breath and slobbery kisses every day when you get home? Does it come and go in a fleeting moment and then disappear or is it an overwhelming emotion that knocks you off your feet? Regardless of how you feel it or for how long, there is an undeniable personal connection that happens between people that will forever change lives.

There is no arguing that love is an impactful experience. And the benefit to loving is not limited to just romantic love either. There is the love between family members, between friends, and between our loving faithful companions we are all proud to call our pets. Regardless of the type of love, it has a positive impact on both you and those whom you love. Love isn’t to be taken lightly or dropped easily and can carry you through some of the most difficult times and help you enjoy the best of times to the fullest extent.

The professionals at Taylor Made have a love, too. They love to capture the interaction of people and pets who love each other in timeless portraits. This is the perfect time to set aside some time and schedule an appointment with you and your loved one(s). Look into what can be accomplished with a custom portrait session and start to get excited because fun will be had by all!

Feel free to leave a comment below. We would love to hear your personal stories about the defining moments of love. Whether it is the love that got away, playful puppy love, or the love of your life – feel free to share it with us! And remember to love strongly and be grateful for those in your life you are blessed enough to love and those who love you, too.

All images capture something in one way or another.  Only a select few photographers do such a great job when you see the picture, you remember the people in the picture, how you felt, them, things they said to you and how they are part of your life.  That’s why we do what we do and work so hard at Taylor Made Photography.

"One Man's Ceiling Is Another Man's Flaw" by Aaron Johnson

Here’s to the progress in technology and the advancement of the wonderful world of portrait art. Taylor Made is proud to continue to keep up with technology and all that goes with it in the photography world. From cameras and equipment all the way to fashions and trends, and everything in between.

New Year

Pixel Perfect by Aaron Johnson

One of the best things about the New Year is the opportunity of a fresh start. We open a new calendar and most of the pages are blank and clean…for now. As we fill our calendars with our schedule, there are things that need to be done on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. In all we have to accomplish in our day to day tasks, sometimes the most important things are missed. It’s not intentional, but it happens all too often.

Every day you look at your family. But when was the last time you stopped, looked at them, saw who and what they are this day, and said, “Where has the time gone?”

How do we make better use of our time? Plan ahead. Trying to pack more into a day or fit things in at the last minute rarely works with an already full schedule.  Everyone knows birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, graduations and other occasions are going to happen this year. Plan ahead. Schedule these special events in advance so less important things don’t take their place.

Capturing these memories and holidays allows you to look back on them whenever you want. Don’t forget about appointments for professional photographs to be created commemorating these special occasions as well as your yearly update of the family portrait, the kids, and the family pet(s).

Some years ago we had a client (who had been with us for many years) introduce Randy to a friend and said, “This is the man who is creating a visual record of my family with portraits.” That is how we look at what we do each day. Our clients trust us and it is a blessing to have such trust. We never forget that our clients are our biggest blessing and we want to do all we can for them. We enjoy our special events, our corporate events, and our portrait appointments – and these are what set us apart from others. Launching into 2012 we bring decades of experience into everything and every portrait possibility that arises.

If you have never allowed us to sit down with you, understand your portrait needs and show you the timeless portraits we create with every client; please call us before you schedule your next appointment.  The memories we capture will stand the test of time.

All images capture something in one way or another.  Only a select few photographers do such a great job when you see the picture, you remember the people in the picture, how you felt, them, things they said to you and how they are part of your life.  That’s why we do what we do and work so hard at Taylor Made Photography.

Let Your Love Flow

It’s that time of year again. The time when we take extra consideration into how we treat those special people in our lives. We go out of our way to make sure that everything is perfect and unforgettable. This year’s need to be perfect will be no different. Make Valentine’s Day special this year with a picturesque portrait and a card created by Taylor Made Photography.

Take pride in having the best Valentine card that you can have. These cards are perfect with portraits of the family, of yourself, or your children. Give to those special people in your life, your family, friends, and send them with your kids to pass out and share with their class. Take advantage of this opportunity to show people that you care.

Naughty Or Nice?

Naughty Or Nice?

As you are doing your Christmas shopping this year, keep in mind who has been naughty and who has been nice (make sure to check them twice!). For those on your list who have been nice and deserve the best gift of all, get them a gift card from Taylor Made Photography.  For those on your list who tend to lean more toward the “naughty” side, let the big man in red bring them their coal. You can still make this year a good year for them with a Taylor Made gift card in their stocking or under the tree.

Do you have that one person on your list that is just impossible to buy for? The person that is important enough that you want to get nothing but the perfect gift, but is insanely difficult to shop for because you don’t know what that gift is? Well now you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the holiday season because your search for that perfect gift is over. Purchase a Taylor Made gift card and give the gift of timeless portraits. Good for one year, these gift cards give the opportunity to take advantage of forever capturing loved ones to display at home, at work, or wherever you go!

The professionals at Taylor Made take pride in their work as they create some of the most treasured possessions a family can own. Whether you were able to make it into the studio this year for portraits or not, this is a great opportunity to give the gift that allows incredible art to be created of all those whom you love. This year it can be easy to cross that hard-to-buy-for person off your list, whether they have been naughty or nice.

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Santa

We had a great time on Saturday when we had a visitor from the North Pole. The jolly man brought joy and tears to the eyes of the children as we captured precious moments of interaction. As you go through this festive season make sure you cherish your time with all those you love.

What makes a great portrait different from all the others?

"Mind Over Matter" by Aaron Johnson

Lots of people like to take a picture with their cell phone because it is convenient.  Others use an auto-focus camera that fits in your pocket because it takes better pictures than your cell phone.  When you stop and think about it, can anyone really take a photograph that when scrutinized holds up?  Probably not.  Photography, business, sports or anything else takes years of practice, education, and expertise.

Family portraits in your home are precious and should be timeless.  The best ones stand the test of time and don’t look dated in two years because the latest fashion or photography craze is no longer current.  A true professional knows how to help you look your best.  When choosing a studio there are some main considerations:

1. How long has the studio been in business?  If it’s less than five years then you should understand why their pricing is so low.  In the photography world, you pay for what you get.

2. Do they only work on location?  This means they do not have a studio and possibly do their entire photo retouching on their home computer and don’t have the professional level of quality control.

3. What is the look and feel of their work?  If it is only cutting edge and limited to the latest fashions and bold statements, you can bet that in a few years you will look at your portraits and only see the outdated décor and clothes, not the people in the portrait.

4. When you came in for your appointment, did someone learn about what you are involved in and what you wanted? If your photographer does not care about you and makes you fit onto  their backgrounds, they may not be the photographer you need.

All images capture something in one way or another.  Only a select few photographers do such a great job when you see the picture, you remember the people in the picture, how you felt, them, things they said to you and how they are part of your life.  That’s why we do what we do and work so hard at Taylor Made Photography.

We look forward to sitting down with you to understand your needs and to show you how we will exceed them.  Please call us to schedule your appointment at 341-5088.

Stop And Smell The Roses

"QuackXPress" by Aaron Johnson

Sports are off and running, the hustle of school and the holiday season is well under way, and life is busier than ever.  Why in the world would anybody consider making time to have portraits taken of their family since they are so busy?  Guess what, babies will outgrow their squeezy cheeks.  Kids are going to grow up and teenagers quickly become adults.  It’s important to pause your busy schedule and preserve these times forever because they pass by quickly.

Pushing aside a baby’s first steps, a child’s first day at school, a teenager’s senior portraits and other momentous occasions like these for today’s To-Do-List is always a regret.  Looking back on your photos brings up emotions and memories that you never want to forget.  Professionally captured images provide you with timeless memories. Make it a point to take some time out of your busy schedule to slow down a little, stop and smell the roses, and give the professionals at Taylor Made a call to discover all the possibilities you have to capture the important times in your life and in the lives of those whom you love.

All images capture something in one way or another.  Only a select few photographers do such a great job so that when you see the picture, you remember the people in the picture, how you felt, them, things they said to you and how they are part of your life.  That’s why we do what we do and work so hard at Taylor Made Photography.

A Great Image Still Starts With The Photographer

"Skilled operator NOT included" by Aaron Johnson

In 2011 we have the greatest photography equipment, teaching and resources to take the best images.   Guess what, few people notice how amazing an image can become.  Instead we focus on the price and how easy can it be to get the picture taken.  Unfortunately, this is short-term thinking and 99.9% of the time it results in a costly sub-par image that never sees the light of day.

Computers and software have advanced to the point where a photograph can be manipulated in many ways.  You can adjust the color saturation, brightness, hue, tone and many other aspects of the image.  Should a photograph need to be “Photoshopped” for hours on end?  Not if it was taken by a professional who knows what he / she is doing.  Taking a great image still starts with the photographer, not by turning on a computer.

The most important and usually overlooked part of choosing a photographer is their track record.  How long have they been in business?  Have they won national and local awards?  Do they go to conventions to stay current on the industry?  How strong are the referrals from their current clients?  Do they understand the art and science to be able to duplicate style and techniques?

Each year more people claiming to be professional photographers with little or no experience start a business.  Their business plan has limited vision, a few friends to get referrals started and a website that looks like all the others.  What’s missing is the experience to know how to capture a great image that will stand the test of time.
